'Avoir' - I have, You have

The verb 'avoir' means 'to have'. Like 'être', it is very irregular. In French, you also use 'avoir' to state your age (e.g. 'I have 20 years' instead of 'I am 20').

Examples

J'ai un frère. (I have a brother.)
Tu as une sœur ? (Do you have a sister?)
Il a un chat. (He has a cat.)
J'ai vingt ans. (I am 20 years old.)
