This Privacy Policy & Terms governs the use of LingoNibble.
1. Who we are
LingoNibble is a language-learning application designed to help users practice English through interactive exercises, AI conversations, and gamified missions. By using LingoNibble, you agree to the terms set out in this document.
AI Disclosure
Data is processed to provide adaptive language learning through LingoNibble's AI systems (powered by Google Gemini).
2. Data we collect
We collect the minimum amount of personal data required to operate the service:
- Email address — used solely for authentication and account recovery, and for marketing communications only if you have explicitly opted in.
- Display name & username — your chosen identifiers, used inside the app and on the public leaderboard.
- Learning progress — completed units, mistakes, XP, and audio preferences, kept so we can sync your progress across devices.
- Feedback you submit — we collect user-submitted feedback to improve our learning algorithms and app stability.
3. Third-party processors
LingoNibble relies on a limited set of third-party services to function:
- Supabase — secure database and authentication storage. Your account data is stored here under GDPR-compliant infrastructure.
- Google Gemini — handles AI tutor conversations. Messages you send to the AI sandbox are processed by Google to generate replies.
- Google AdSense — We use Google AdSense to serve ads on LingoNibble. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to LingoNibble and/or other sites on the Internet.
4. Public leaderboard
When you participate in the weekly League, your username, avatar, and weekly XP are publicly visible to other players. Your email address and other private settings remain confidential and are never shared.
5. Cookies & identifiers
LingoNibble stores small amounts of data in your browser (local storage) so that the app works offline and remembers your preferences.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to LingoNibble or other websites. Google's use of the DoubleClick DART cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting the Google Ad Settings (or www.google.com/settings/ads). Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
6. Marketing communications
Marketing emails are strictly opt-in. You can change your preference at any time from the Settings screen. Withdrawing consent will not affect any other part of your account.
7. Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)
You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. The “Delete account” button in Settings permanently wipes your record and signs you out. For any other request, contact us via email at support@lingonibble.com.
8. Children
LingoNibble is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU). If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us so we can remove it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this document as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated inside the app before they take effect.
