LingoNibble

The idea behind LingoNibble

LingoNibble is a structured language learning app built around one conviction: that short, daily practice sessions tied to real-world scenarios produce faster fluency than long, grammar-heavy study. Each language (English, Spanish, French and Italian, with more coming soon) is taught through a progressive CEFR curriculum — A1 through B1.2 — broken into 10-unit levels with roleplay missions, comprehension stories and AI conversation practice at every stage.

Why we follow the CEFR framework

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is the international standard used by universities, employers and language schools worldwide. Organising a curriculum around CEFR levels means learners always know exactly where they stand — A1 is absolute beginner, A2 is elementary, B1 is conversational intermediate — and every unit has a measurable outcome. When you pass a LingoNibble level exam, you have demonstrated real, testable ability, not just vocabulary points.

Why scenario-based learning works

Traditional language apps drill vocabulary in isolation. LingoNibble teaches vocabulary and grammar inside realistic scenarios — a job interview, a lost suitcase at an airport, a city council debate. Research in cognitive linguistics consistently shows that context-embedded learning produces stronger retention than decontextualised drills. When you learn the Spanish conditional tense inside a travel agency booking conversation rather than through a conjugation table, the structure sticks because it is attached to meaning and urgency. Every LingoNibble unit ends with a roleplay mission that forces you to use new grammar actively, not just recognise it passively.

Spaced repetition built into the curriculum

LingoNibble's ladder system is designed around the principle of spaced repetition — the scientifically validated method of reviewing material at increasing intervals as it becomes more secure in memory. New vocabulary introduced in a unit reappears in the following mission, then again in later units' practice exercises and story comprehension questions. Grammar structures introduced at A2 are revisited and extended at B1.1 in more complex sentence types. You never finish a topic and move on — you build on it.

AI conversation practice — why it matters

Speaking anxiety is one of the biggest barriers to language learning. Many learners plateau at reading and writing because they never get enough low-stakes speaking practice. LingoNibble's AI Tutor gives you an infinitely patient conversation partner calibrated to your current CEFR level. It corrects grammar and vocabulary mistakes in context, adapts its complexity to your progress, and lets you practise the same scenario as many times as you need without embarrassment. The goal is not to simulate a native speaker — it is to build the confidence and muscle memory you need to have real conversations with real people.

Grammar through use, not through rules

LingoNibble teaches grammar inductively — you encounter a structure being used correctly in multiple contexts before the rule is explained. Each unit introduces a grammar concept through flashcards and dialogues, confirms understanding through multiple-choice questions with detailed answer explanations, and then requires active production in fill-in-the-blank exercises and roleplay missions. The rule is never the starting point. Exposure, then recognition, then production — that is the sequence.

Get in touch

LingoNibble is built by a small team of language teachers, linguists and developers. We are constantly expanding the curriculum and refining the methodology. If you have feedback, questions, or ideas — or if you want to tell us about your language learning journey — we would love to hear from you through the feedback button inside the app.
