Avere - I have, You have

The verb 'avere' means 'to have'. Like 'essere', it is very irregular. You also use it to say your age in Italian (literally: I have 20 years).

Examples

Io ho un fratello. (I have a brother.)
Tu hai una sorella. (You have a sister.)
Lui ha una famiglia. (He has a family.)
Io ho venti anni. (I am 20 years old.)
